Messi: Neymar is an amazing person

Barcelona star Lionel Messi lauded team-mate Neymar as an amazing person, but admits he is embarrassed by the Brazilian’s admiration.

Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have formed the world’s most lethal attack and led the La Liga club to four trophies last season.

Neymar idolises Messi, and the latter was similarly full of praise for the 24-year-old Brazil international.

“Neymar is an amazing person,” the Argentinian told Neymar’s website.

“He is a very cheerful person who lives happily and has no evil.”

Suarez, Messi and Neymar combined to score 90 of Barca’s 112 goals in their successful Liga campaign.

Neymar has spoken previously of Messi as an idol and that praise flatters the 29-year-old.

“He always says he is a fan of mine and that embarrasses me a little, because he tells me to my face that he is a fanatic of mine,” he said.

“Even when he came, I realised that when he would say it, he would mean it.

“It is how he felt and it made me very happy that a kid like him would say these things about me and that we can continue to have that good relationship to this day.”

Barcelona have banned Ousmane Dembele from turning off his phone, after he once again failed to arrive on time for training, uniquesports.com.ng reports.

Earlier this week, Dembele begged his team-mates for forgiveness in a private dressing-room speech, after being fined £90,000 for turning up two hours late to training, reports Daily Mail.

Manager Ernesto Valverde has now instructed the French winger, to keep his phone on all the time, so that he can be contactable if another issue arises.

Valverde is said to be content with the player’s improvement off the pitch and believes he has taken positive steps towards changing his attitude.

It is believed Dembele enjoys playing video games and watching TV until the early hours of the morning, which is the main issue.

Barcelona defender, Jordi Alba has said that Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata is a ‘top player’ and he would be ‘very welcome’ at Camp Nou, should he push through a transfer away from the blues, uniquesports.com.ng reports.

Alba is a big fan of his compatriot, who has struggled to adapt to the English style of football, and thinks he would be a good signing for the La Liga giants.

The Spain international is yet to be at his best form since his arrival to England and finds himself competing with Olivier Giroud for a starting spot, with Maurizio Sarri reportedly interested in signing Edinson Cavani to be his No. 1 striker.

The 26-year-old, who left Real Madrid during the transfer window in January 2017, may not have a future at Stamford Bridge and his agent supposedly made contact with Barcelona in order to secure a transfer to Catalonia.

However, Alba hopes that is the case and would welcome the forward with open arms.

“Morata is a player that I appreciate a lot, he has been a top player for many years,” Metro UK quoted Alba as saying.

“At the end, it’s the club’s [decision] if they want to sign him or not, as with any other player.

“If the rumours are true, he would be very welcome, as all the new players [are].”

LaLiga giants, Barcelona have made a shock move to sign Alvaro Morata from Chelsea in January.

Morata has struggled to command a regular spot in the first-team at Chelsea.

The Spaniard arrived Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017.

The Mirror reports that Morata’s agents have been in touch with Barcelona over a possible January deal for the Spanish international.

The newspaper reports that a loan move until the end of the season is the most likely course of action, with the option of making it permanent in the summer.

The 26-year-old is seeking first-team football, which he is not getting at Chelsea.

Maurizio Sarri prefers Olivier Giroud and had in recent weeks used Eden Hazard as a striker.
