Lionel Messi: Why I could never leave Barcelona

Published

on

Lionel Messi has revealed the thought has and never will cross his mind to leave Barcelona.
Messi is about to finish his 14th season at Barcelona and this term he lifted the double – Copa del Rey and La Liga.

During his illustrious spell, Messi has been locked in a battle with Cristiano Ronaldo over who the greatest footballer is.

The Argentine has found himself linked over the past couple of the seasons with a move to Manchester City and a reuniuon with Pep Guardiola.

But the 30-year-old has revealed that Barca is the only club for him and that there would be nowhere else for him to go.

“I’m not tempted to leave Barca, there is nowhere better than Barca, if I wasn’t here I wouldn’t be anywhere,” Messi told TyCSports
“It’s the best team in the world, the best city in the world, my children already have their friends. I do not need change.

“I fight to win everything, I do not need to go anywhere else to prove anything.

“I do not like seeing myself playing in old games, but I have incorporated a lot of new things into my way of playing.

“I feel good and fast, but when you’re young you do it 500 times a game and today you select the games more.”

The subject of Messi’s former team-mate Neymar being linked to Real Madrid refuses to go away.
And he is convinced that it would be a terrible blow for Barca if the move materialised, even though Messi claims he has conveyed his thoughts to Neymar on the matter.

He added: “It would be a very strong blow.

“It would make Real Madrid stronger.

“I have talked to him, he already knows [my thoughts].”
