Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez invited to join Barcelona

Published

James Rodriquez has been invited to join Barcelona by defender Gerard Pique.
Rodriguez was in sensational form for Colombia as they beat Poland in their Group H game in the World Cup last week.

It was a reminder of the form he showed four years ago in Brazil to earn his big money move from Monaco to Real Madrid.

He started well in Spain but fell down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and was shipped out to Bayern Munich on loan last season.

Rodriguez is due to remain at Bayern for next season as well but his future may take a turn following Zidane’s resignation.

And Barcelona defender has offered him the chance to join him at Madrid’s big rivals.
According to Barcelona fan website barcablaugranes.com the pair were together for an interview with the The Players’ Tribune.

And Pique said to Rodriguez: “You are invited to Barcelona whenever you want.”

Pique then added he would be welcome at the Nou Camp and insisted he played in the style they want at Barcelona.

“And I don’t know, Barça some day,’ Pique said.

James Rodriguez

“I have always said you were Barça material. Your form of playing, your way of understanding football.

“But in the end, in your career, no one knows where you’ll end up. But you’d be welcome.”
Rodriguez will be in action against Senegal today as Colombia look to book a spot in the last 16.

They were shocked by Japan in the opening game but beat Poland to give themselves a chance.

Goals from Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado sealed the big win.

Colombia are currently third in Group H but a victory today would take them above Senegal and through to the last 16 – potential as group winners if Japan are unable to beat Poland.

Winners of group H will face the winners of England’s group which will be decided this evening when Gareth Southgate’s side face Belgium.
