Eduardo Herrera stalling on exit after snubbing offers

Published

on

Rangers flop Eduardo Herrera is stalling on a return to his native Mexico.
Toluca are one of a number of clubs in his homeland who want the striker, including former club Pumas.

But it’s understood if he does leave Ibrox, he would prefer to remain in Europe.

Boss Steven Gerrard is looking to get rid of Rangers’ fringe players – but Herrera is sitting tight.

The 29-year-old is happy to remain at Ibrox but would consider a loan move in another European league to get back playing. He had options in Switzerland in January but knocked them back.
Herrera was signed by Pedro Caixinha but found himself, along with fellow Mexican Carlos Pena, out of the picture after he departed.

Andy Halliday, Fabio Cardoso and Harry Forrester are also expected to leave, while Jamie Barjonas is set to join Partick Thistle on loan.

Gerrard will continue strengthening his squad with the imminent arrivals of Angers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly and Roma striker Umar Sadiq, both on loan.

Deals have been agreed for both players subject to work permits being granted.
