The Super Eagles have gone top of Group E, following a 3-2 win over Libya on Tuesday night in Sfax, Tunisia.
It is the second time that Gernot Rohr’s men have defeated the North Africans, following a 4-0 rout last weekend in Uyo.
Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa gave Nigeria a 2-0 lead, before Mohamed Zubya and Ahmed Benali equalized for the Mediterranean Knights.
Ighalo however struck again in the dying minutes, to ensure the Eagles got all three points.
Nigeria now have nine points from four fixtures, while South Africa are in second place with eight points.
Libya have four points and Seychelles are on one point.
FA Cup: Five Arsenal players to miss Blackpool clash
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has confirmed that Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss his side’s FA Cup third round clash with Blackpool on Saturday evening.
According to Emery, Ozil, Bellerin, Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi and Mkhitaryan remain serious doubts for the Blackpool clash because they all missed training on Friday morning due to injuries.
“This morning Dinos Mavropanos started to train after I think five months. That’s good news,” Emery was quoted by Metro UK as saying on Friday.
“Emile Smith Rowe trained with us this morning.
“Continuing with his injury and not OK to train with us is Mustafi, he has to recover from his small injury and continue working alone.
“Bellerin and Nacho Monreal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and also Mesut didn’t train this morning. They remain serious doubts for Blackpool clash.
“Tomorrow is the last day, we are going to wait for tomorrow, for how we can be for Saturday.”
Arsenal head to the game following a 4-1 victory over Fulham on Tuesday in the Premier League encounter.
FA Cup: Lukaku, Sanchez to start against Reading, Pogba out
Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, could be forced to miss the FA Cup clash with Reading, but Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku will start.
Pogba was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Jonjo Shelvey, during the 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday and may be ruled out of the third-round tie at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
“I’m not sure if Paul is going to be ready. He got a knock against Newcastle.
“If [Marouane] Fellaini gets through the session [on Friday] it’s more or less a full squad. There will be a few changes and they’ll get a chance. Some of them are itching now to play of course.
“Lukaku and Sanchez will start. That’s important for them because they need more game time,” caretaker manager OIe Gunnar Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday.
Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo will miss out through injury, but Sergio Romero, Matteo Darmian and Fred could all start against Reading.
