Why Chelsea lost 2-1 to Wolves – Sarri

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has blamed striker, Alvaro Morata, for his side’s 2-1 loss to Wolves on Wednesday, uniquesports.com.ng reports.

The Italian said the striker missed a lot of chances to put the Blues ahead in the game.

Sarri said this in his post match press conference from Molineux after Chelsea lost 2-1 to a spirited Wolves comeback.

The Blues took the lead through Ruben Loftus-Cheek on his first Premier League start of the season, but conceded twice in four minutes and could not pull back a goal despite a late onslaught.

Raul Jimenez and Diego Jota’s strikes means that the Blues have lost twice in three Premier League games and are now ten points behind leaders Manchester City.

Chelsea face City on Saturday evening at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on why Chelsea lost the game, Sarri told post match congress, “I don’t know about that. We could have scored four or five goals. We missed them,” talking about Morata.

“I don’t know, but I think it is more important to talk about our attitude, the first goal.

“We were not the same team. It was not for me. I have to understand why. Only for a goal. We had to play 35 minutes after that.

“If you had asked me the same question after 55 minutes I would say I was happy. We lost everything. It can happen, but I don’t think it. It was without reaction.

“I think that we played very well for 55 minutes. After the goal, it was an accident because we were in full control of the match.

“We were suddenly a different team, I don’t know why. I am really very worried, not for the result but for the fact we didn’t respond to the first goal.”

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has provided update on his team ahead of their Europa League clash with MOL Vidi on Thursday.

Sarri said Victor Moses, Cahill, Kovacic will not be in the squad due to injury.

He also said that goalkeeper Kepa, Rudigar, Azpilicueta, Kante and Hazard will be rested.

Sarri said this in a prematch press conference on Wednesday evening ahead of the game.

He said, “The last match was really very difficult, because they defended very well, very low in density. It was very difficult for us to score.

“Maybe tomorrow will be a very different match because they are fighting for qualification.

“I think they need to win tomorrow. So maybe the match will be really very different.

“I don’t know the starting XI for tomorrow. I can tell you that I decided that the players who played for three matches in six days in the last week have to rest in this match and so I am talking about Kepa, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Kante and Hazard.

“Then we have three injuries. Kovacic, Cahill and Moses. All the other players are here, of course.”

AC Milan are keen to sign Fabregas in January and the Blues have looked at Barca’s disgruntled Suarez.

Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri does not want the 31-year-old to go, but the Spaniard wants more football than he is getting at the moment.

Sarri has told the club’s board that he does not want Fabregas to go until a direct replacement has been sorted out as he is his only true cover for Jorginho.

However, Fabregas has made only four Premier League appearances this season, starting only in the recent defeat away to Wolves.

Suarez wants to leave Barcelona after making only one substitute appearance in La Liga this season, and would cost around £15million.

The Blues value Fabregas at around £11m.
