Europa league: Iwobi Celebrates Arsenal’s quarter-Final Feat

Alex Iwobi is thrilled with Arsenal’s progress into the quater-finals of the UEFA Europa League following Wednesday’s 3-1 win against French club, Stade Rennes at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners bounced back from a 3-1 first leg deficit to advance 4-3 on aggregate.

Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice for the North London club in the game, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles got the other.

Iwobi replaced Alexandre Lacazette in the 70th minute of the encounter.

“Barging Into The Next Round Like …” the talented winger wrote on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

The Nigeria international has now made eight appearances for Arsenal in the Europa League this season and has scored once with two assists to his name.

The 22-year-old who has also scored three goals in 27 Premier League appearances for the Gunners is expected to link up with his international teammates next week for the 2019/AFCON qualifier against Seychelles and international friendly versus Egypt.

Barcelona have released their line-up that will tackle Lyon on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash at Camp Nou Stadium.

Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde released a list of 20 players through the club’s official website.

Valverde’s men head to the game following a 0-0 draw with Lyon in the first leg encounter played last month.

Chelsea continued their resurgence under Maurizio Sarri by putting one foot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a dominant 3-0 win over Dynamo Kiev.

Sarri’s side made it three wins in nine days thanks to goals from Pedro, Willian and substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi, but should be taking a far greater aggregate lead to Ukraine for next week’s return match.

The Blues squandered a host of chances in the first leg of the last-16 tie as Dynamo goalkeeper Denys Boyko produced an inspired display, while Pedro had a strong penalty appeal turned down.
