Liverpool player in talks to leave club on free transfer

Liverpool are on the verge of letting Bobby Adekanye join Lazio on a free transfer

This is according to Goal’s Liverpool reporter Neil Jones.

The 20-year-old is expected to leave Anfield in the summer in a deal that is “almost complete” according to Jones.

The former Ajax and Barcelona prospect has struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team and has seen his playing time limited to the reserves.

“Bobby Adekanye’s move to Lazio is edging closer,” Jones wrote on Twitter.
“He’ll be leaving #LFC on a free this summer, and a deal with the Serie A side is almost complete.

“He has another option on the table but Italy preferred destination.”

Jones also offered his take on Adekanye’s prospects with one fan worried he could turn into a world-beater.

“He’s got ability but he’s well off the first team at #LFC and has loads to improve,” Jones said.
“Needs to go and play, and didn’t want to stay without knowing he would get opportunities.”

Liverpool signed Adekanye from Barca in 2015, but the Nigerian-born, Dutch youth international has struggled to reach his potential at the club.

There are reports Liverpool offered Adekanye a new deal, but the winger declined to take up the opportunity to stay at the club.

If he completes the move to Lazio he will be joining several former Reds players in Rome.

Currently Lazio have former Reds’ defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva and Spanish winger Luis Alberto at the club.
